Remembering the House Where I was Born

I remember the house where I was born -  6 Beauchamp Road, Forest Gate. Eric Dawson's family home: a terraced house but due to problems connected with actually drawing it, the house appears detached but  internally it is quite accurate.

Methodist Central Hall

By James Briggs

Picture taken possibly around 1910 - I'm not sure. I can't remember my source, but possibly Robin Sharp. The building was next to the former East Ham Grammar School - just visible on the right of the picture, in turn next to East Ham Town Hall further to the right. The Central Hall was demolished in the 1960s.

Spotted Dog

The Spotted Dog Inn, Upton Lane. It is the only ancient building to have survived in Forest Gate. It is a timber framed building from the 16th century or earlier. It has been much restored and altered over the years and has been neglected and is not in use at the moment. This early photo shows the tea garden and cricket ground entrance to the left.
