The River Roding breached its banks in 1903 and flooded parts of  Little Ilford. This photograph shows part of Grantham Road, Manor Park. The area had not been fully developed at this time, as can be seen by the incomplete  row of houses, which may be one end of what was to become Alverstone  Road.
