On Friday 27th February 2009 the winners of the Newham Story Local History Quiz were invited to a presentation of prizes at East Ham Town Hall. The prizes were presented by Cllr. Richard Crawford, Executive Member for Community Forums who had previously selected the winning entries
The fabulous prizes, which were provided by the London Borough of Newham’s Community Participation Unit as part of their Inter-Forum Competition Programme.

Here's my grandfather, William Brighton on another outing in the 1930s, he is in the front row, near the middle and is wearing top hat and tails. The chap on the front left also in a top hat was named Collidge or something like that. The very tall moustached gent in the centre won the Military Medal during the First World War.
