Meeson
John Meeson was the first Mayor of the newly -formed County Borough of West Ham, 1886-87. He was head of a firm of lime-burners and cement manufacturers at Bow Bridge. He was also a member of the West Ham Local Board throughout his life, and its Chairman, 1863-75. Lime burning was a centuries-old industry on the Lea.
