Champions sculpture

Statue immortalising England's World Cup victory in 1966. 'Champions' depicts Sir Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters and Ray Wilson holding aloft the former captain of England Bobby Moore, as he proudly shows off the famous World Cup trophy. West Ham FC had three of its players in the England squad at the time of the win.

At four metres high it is a prominent sight at the junction of corner of Green Street and Barking Road, not far from West Ham football ground.

Designed and crafted by renowned British artist Philip Jackson, the four tonne sculpture captures the historic sporting moment.

Financial contributors to the project included Newham Council, West Ham United Football Club, Green Street SRB, Arts Council for England, and Arts & Business.
