Station viewed from the Tug-boat Pier. Note the soot-blackened appearance of the building. The covered jetty leading to the pier can be seen on the extreme right and, above it, part of the now-demolished Royal Pavilion Public House. This view would not now be possible as the jetty has been removed and the river wall is much higher, following flood prevention works associated with the costruction of theThames Barrier. The ship in King George V dock is now also a thing of the past.
