This is an old established pub which popular legend connects with Dick Turpin. It certainly existed before 1742 and was either refaced or rebuilt in 1875. It consists of several separate buildings which straddle the street cornerin a "mediaeval manner", the facades demonstrates a wide variety of styles, building lines and roof levels. At the north end there is coaching entrance leading to a yard containing stock brick outbuildings which are used as restaurant and store. View from back door of pub.
