Hi,

Does anyone remember the Black Cat cafe, that used to be under the arches at Forest Gate.

 The arches were ,and still are under Wanstead Park railway station . I have a photo of The Black Cat cafe taken in the 30s I think, but at that time it was called Elliotts tea rooms .

Sure do. Do you remember the cafe on the corner of Forest Road where the trolley buses turned to go into Dames Road.  Also, do you remember the wartime British Restaurant next to the Eagle & Child public house. It was opposite Homers the fishing/sport shop and Gunns the provision/cornchandlers shop?

I didn't know the Black Cat Cafe but I have heard it mentioned somewhere. Am I right in thinking that in the 50s it was a han-out for the Teddy Boys and then later for the Biker's.
