Although I can remember at least for bakers and an ABC in Woodgrange Road, Forest Gate, I can't for the life of me remember any in Stratford Broadway. Yes, in West Ham Lane, also up there at the Union Street end. Perhaps I was too busy stuffing pie and mash from the three pie shops, plus of course Vi's pies in the Broadway, but bakers, no!

The bakers on the High Street, (Union Street end) was called Ling's. This is where I was sent for bread pudding and a seedy sliced loaf many times. Ling's was situated opposite Carpenters Road and was on the corner of Wise Road. Next door to the bakers was Lines the post office...
My favourite bakers was O.S.Setchell who had a shop in Woodgrange Road, Forest Gate.
Just as a matter of interest I once worked for Price's and Neville's bakeries. I was a bread roundsman on Price's and my rounds were mainly in and around Canning Town and Isle of Dogs..I can tell many stories of my experiances which I'm sure you will find funny (ha ha)..Bob
