I was born in Barnwood road  west silvertown  in 1933

Welcome to the board Harry. We also have another member named Stan Dyson who was also born in Silvertown and is very knowledgable about the area.

 hello
 yes i have just received  Stan Dysons  book from Amazon
also sent a copy to my middle brother  who lives in Surfers Paradise
Gold Coast Autralia .when he was very young  he used to sell newspapers
at the foot of West Silvertown Viaduct outside Tate and lyle , we lived in Clyde road
after 23 Barnwood road ,and stayed there till the  houses  were bombed ,after that we moved to Canningtown.I was still at school and went to Pretoria road  secondary ,when i left school i worked  at a glass factory Robinson Kings in Marshgate Lane   Stratford which is now part of the Olympic  park when i was  17 years old i joined  the merchant navy , i did almost 9 years ,came ashore  and joined the post office for 33 years

Hi Harry,

My Aunt Jackie emigrated to Australia around 1967 to live in Surfers Paradise. She was a clippy in the East Ham area until she met an Australian and moved out there. She came back for a couple of years in the early 70s but went back again  Cheesy
