I do not know if this is your father but a Google search produced this pre-war picture of a boxer named Johhny Peters.

Hi,

Could you please ask your father if he remembers my Uncle, Bob Sharpe, he boxed for West Ham ABC and was losing finalist at Wembley in the same schoolboy championships in 1954.

My Uncle was a boxing referee and trainer in the 1950's he was often at Wembley and the London Polytechnic. He was a great friend of the Buxton brothers. I wonder if anyone remembers him? His name was Sid Joslin.

Hi all,

My two brothers both boxed for East Ham boxing club, (Alan & Barry Parker), my father also drove the club mini bus taking everyone to tournaments.   Arthur Craddock was the trainer at that time.   My brothers were at the club from about 1957 - 1970 approximately.

Hi Pam,

Sorry not to have replied before, but am on holiday here in Saffron Walden, so don't get to the laptop often.

Yes, I would love to see a copy of the photo.   I am going to see Alan on Monday and will be seeing Barry in a fortnight and I am sure they would also like to see the photo.

Thanks very much Pam for the photos, it did bring back memories of those times and I remember all those boys in the photo with myself, do you know the date of the photo?

I do have a vivid memory of your dad riding on his white horse Dan.

Hi Pam, I recall your dad was not a man to be questioned, you just did as you were told!

I don't know all the boys in the photos but in the one with your dad in an overcoat, the lad behind his shoulder is Peter Deal (I think), the boy in the checked jacket is Danny Mogford and the lad at the far right in the doorway was Chris Jobson.

I also remember that sometimes Alfie Danahar and Gerogie Dormer, both ex professional boxers, would come over and help you dad out at the club.

I lived in the Barking Road and Jimmy Smith (one of the boys in the group photo) and I, on one occasion, entered the talent contest at the Granada, East Ham, we thought we were the bees knees!

Hi Pam, That would be fantastic if you could mail me a copy of the pic as I'm sure my uncle woul love to see it.. Also my dad was good mates with chris jobson as they both turned pro at a similar time and many of the other names you mentioned he remembered..

Also from recollection of conversations I believe my grandad (Reg White) had some involvment in conditioning of the guy's at the club at some point.

My email addresse is Joewhite85@hotmail.com. I will ask him if he has any stories about your dad?

cheers
