 :)Hi

Just to say that I have just purchased the book from the the author Graham McGlone who I met in Silvertown/Northwoolwich when a few of the old Silvertowners/North Woolwichers met up on Jubilee Sunday at Victoria Park, North Woolwich and afterwards at The Henley Arms, North Woolwich.  I have not read it yet as I am going on holiday next week and I saving it for then.  I understand that it is a very good read if you are interested in Silvertown/North Woolwich you will surely enjoy it.

Have a good read.

My Mum was born and raised in Silvertown before the war. Her Grandad lived in Muir St, and she was raised there with an assortment of family members (her Nan and Grandad had 21 kids).
Many Silvertown and local families are relatives: Saddingtons, Fishers, Birminghams, Tilstons etc.

Her mum - my Nan - was awarded a medal in 1938 for bravery at the Woolwich Ferry. Someone fell into the river and was in difficulty. Nan dived in and dragged him to the shore. She was awarded the Albert Medal.
