I’ve just read this great book which tells the story of Polly Chambers who was born in 1911 and who grew up in Stratford. Her stories tell of how her family and other East Londoner’s lived through two world wars, the Great Depression and the early post-war years.

The book which includes some family photos, is a compilation of Polly’s stories, which were recorded by her son Jeff Smith
