Hi everybody

Please can anybody help with the following  Smiley

Does any one know or remember what shops have been on the corner of West Ham Lane/Aldworth Road [it is now a Cafe] opposite Stratford Police Station. I believe it would be "61 West Ham Lane"

Does any one remember it being a Chemist at one time?

Time wise  Undecided  could be any time between 1920's and 1960's yes I know a big time area but just trying to date Family History Info

Many Thanks  JMW

As I remember it was a hairdressers and a dry cleaners, that might be too late for you.

Good luck in your search..............

Thank you MBrennan for your post mentioning Alfred Maguire

I have now looked at the 1911 census at 61 West Ham Lane, Stratford were Alfred Magiure it says he was a Medical Herbalist and along with Alfred were his wife Eliza and two sons Percy and Eric

Having done a little more research I think!! It is who was at this address  1940's/1950's? that I am interested in [for my family history]
So does anyone remember this address as a Chemist shop with the name of A CLARKE [A standing for Alexander]
I guess if it was a Medical Herbalist there 1911/12 that it follows that it was a Chemist Shop later Roll Eyes

Cheers JMW

Hi JMW - glad it wasn't just me then - I had the same idea when I saw a herbalist mentioned  Cheesy

Hopefully there is a printed trade directory or similar with info from the 40s - or better still, someone that remembers.
