Hi Stan, love your memories of Woolwich, many times I and mates follwed the same route to Bostal Woods after the trip from Varley Road ,most times using shanksis pony to make the trip both ways.
Was the Inspector who was Inspecting the tram actually using a metal hook to remove the bogey that was used to pick up the electric currant from below ground before picking currant from the over head lines?.

Hi Stan do you recall the champion walker he used to come from South to North Woolwich every evening in the summer and stand at Henlys jetty and The Standard?also do you remember the escapeologist who used to be tied in chains ?I wonder if you can remember the forty four corners alley ways, which was left as you came out of the ferry and past the granada car park past the big old pub there was some railings and that was where it was.Be pleased to hear from you or anyone else about this. Phil - Thats it, 'Knee Hill'; it seemes I didn't know my Knee from my Elbow...still, it was a long time ago!  Harry - Sorry mate, I've no idea what the Inspector was doing.  John - Yes, I recall running around Forty Four Corner Alley and I recall the escapologist, but I do not remember the walker. - Stan
