I don't agree! "Discreet Comments" never won "Freedom of Speech"! You have to put your neck on the line to win it, and keep it!"
No need to be politely sorry with your disagreement, Terry. I stand by my advice - be discreet with your comments and get them shown on the forum. "Put your neck on the line", as you put it, and risk your comments being destined straight for the Newham bin. Result? Nobody sees them and you suffer the frustration of having wasted your time.
A few decades ago, when we had the old British freedom of speech, the only laws our writings could offend against were libel and sedition. Today, we have to observe further restrictions on our speech and writing. We all know what they are. In this respect The Newham Story website is no more restrictive in what it allows to be published than is any other British website.
As a bloke who served for five years in WW2 to defend our British way of life I abhor some of the changes in our country but, with tongue in cheek, I have to accept them as the democratic choice of my fellow citizens.
Sorry, Terry.
Bert
